How to build a music round that works

Alternate between knowing and recognising. A round of nothing but release years turns into a memory test; a round of nothing but clips turns into a race for the fastest thumb.
Keep clips short. Ten to fifteen seconds is plenty: whoever knows it knows it straight away, and the rest do not get bored.
Spread the decades. Include something from the sixties through to now, or the oldest or youngest table wins every time.
Ask for one thing at a time. "Artist and title and year" mostly produces arguments while you are marking.
Start with the easy ones. Almost everyone gets a few, which keeps the room in it.
